Nexa Advisory Submission – AEMO Draft 2025 Electricity Network Options Report

Nexa Advisory welcomes the opportunity to share our views and insights on AEMO’s Draft 2025 Electricity Network Options Report (ENOR).

The ENOR underpins AEMO’s critical role in identifying key transmission options which can support the clean energy transition. Our recent work has identified that there remain roadblocks1 to delivering the energy transition in line with AEMO’s Integrated System Plan (ISP), and that there are significant costs associated with delayed transmission delivery due to the uncertainty around these challenges.

We have previously discussed that these delays result from several key challenges in planning and delivering transmission, namely a lack of coordinated planning and accountability to deliver these projects on time.

Rather than just imposing a cost on transmission options to reflect these drivers, we urge AEMO to reflect the upside opportunity and benefit of alternative non-network solutions, incorporating credible, market-led non-network proposals into the final ENOR analysis.

AEMO must also better signal the opportunities to better enable Consumer Energy Resources (CER) via consumer-led and non-network solutions.
